August 22, 2023, Shawnee, OK – The United Way of Pottawatomie County’s Shawnee Recovery Fund has received a $50,000 donation from BancFirst and BancFirst Insurance. This donation will fund recovery efforts for the community affected by the April 19, 2023 Shawnee Tornado.
“BancFirst has always considered Shawnee ‘home’ since Gene Rainbolt started the first of our locations right here,” says Casey Bell, President & Regional Executive of BancFirst Shawnee. “When your home is affected by any tragedy, the family steps in to help. That’s what we hope to do with our contribution to the United Way – meeting the needs of our own family members. This is just a small way we can put our loyalty to Shawnee into action.”
“We are pleased to help the United Way in the efforts to rebuild Shawnee after the storms,” says Aaron Capps, Vice President of BancFirst Insurance Shawnee. “BancFirst’s roots are here in Shawnee and we plan to help keep this city prosperous and vibrant in any way we can.”
If you were impacted by the severe storms in April 2023 and reside in Pottawatomie County, disaster assistance is available to you through Catholic Charities. They will be officing out of St. Benedict’s in Shawnee, providing case management and long-term recovery assistance. Please give them a call if you are in need of services at 405-465-3808.
“We are so thankful for this generous donation from BancFirst and BancFirst Insurance,” said Sandy Vanderburg, Executive Director of UWPC. “As a community, we know we have a long way to go towards recovery, and this gift will provide hope and restoration for so many that are hurting. BancFirst truly is committed to Oklahomans and we are grateful.”
Donors can give online at unitedwaypottco.org/shawnee-recovery or mail a check to United Way of Pottawatomie County, with “Shawnee Recovery Fund” in the memo, to P.O. Box 697, Shawnee, OK 74802.
